Hi gang,
I may sound stupid here, but what is the difference between a black panther and a black baggy? Is it just a sticker, or is there true differences. Thanks for not laughing at me, I get that enough at home LOL Rolling Eyes

I don't think there is much of a difference. I think the Black Panther only comes in HR? but I may be wrong. I do know that my HR forks were painted and clear coated, and a full height silver bike had non clear coated forks. You coould also get a Baggy in black with off road wheels, and those had no paint on the plastic body panels.

The Black Panther comes as the name suggests, Black and has 116mm ride height with adjustable forks! As i am aware it's exactly the same as other Baghiras, just comes in Black as standard! Thats it! No Einstein stuff going on but i may be wrong... Smile

my Black Panther came in Height Reduced, with non adjustable forks. so it may just be the black color scheme.

i have a 2000 black panther, my buddy has a 2002 baggy the two bikes are a world apart, his seat height is lower, swingarm is shorter,he has non adjustable forks, his triple tree is cast ,mine is billet, both bikes had the carbs punched before we bought them, mine has aftermarket (over size header) and vampire pipe. he has stock header "m4" pipe, and he's a little faster than me have'nt figured that out yet.but let's not forget the baggies had three models (black panther, steet moto, and the enduro)and the all say BAGHIRA. go figure, be safe guys!!!!!!!!! keep one wheel on the ground. A Black Panther is just a black Street Moto.....you get it as a height reduced version or the normal one....only the color makes the difference Wink

From SF Moto, you'll see the only difference is color:

Quote:
In 2000, the Street Moto and the Black Panther completed the line. Both versions differ only in color

http://www.rrmotorcycling.com/mags/02winter/mz-bag.html

MZ's own site shows the exact same specs for both:

StreetMoto
http://www.mz1000s.de/cgi-bin/click.system?navid=271&sid=c
BlackPanther
http://www.mz1000s.de/cgi-bin/click.system?navid=272&sid=c

I spent a lot of time searching for the difference, I could never find one from the web. Knowing how much trouble it is to get a particular line of motorcycle certified for sale, It only makes sense that there are really only two models (with height reduced variations). The one with dirt tires, and the one with supermoto tires.

If you can point us to some data that shows otherwise, please do. It would be good to document either way.

yes the bp does have a longer rake on the forks than the strt mto, i'm telling you guys we've measured all points, they really are different. i don't have a scaner at home but i have 1 at work and i'll try to find the sales brochure that has all the specs. on the baggys. i can't tell you what the internet says (haven't looked that far maybe i should) but what i have as far as the literature is from mz (east germany some is english some german all specs. are europeon)i'll do my best to post pics. as soon as possibile, as you can tell my kids don't give much of a chance to hook up. BE SAFE & ALLWAYS ALERT
