I had one dealer suggest I had Acerbis built me a tank as a one off - but that sounded a bit mad -
Would anyone else be up for that? so we could suggest a minimum run for them? |
It may be worth making enquiries about getting one made in aluminium. In the current Supermoto Magazine (Spring 06), there's a pic of an ally tank sold by Mac Moto. I know it's for an XR650, but you get the ally tank (only 7.5 litres in this case), CRF rad shrouds, cap & fuel tap for £335.
It might end up being cheaper to get a small run of custom ally tanks made than plastic ones.
I'll register my interest in a custom tank - depending on size and style
Keep us posted...

Looks to be nicely made, but I would personally prefer to replace the existing tank than add an auxiliary tank to the back of the bike...

I tend to agree!
Aux tanks rob you of stoarge space for tank bags and the like.
I'm still bidding on a 28ltr KTM tank on ebay and wondering if building a fittment kit is the best way to go - any thoughts?

Look at this!! Scroll down for this killer replacement tank. 28 ltrs. Anybody able to translate German? I'm tempted to pick one up, but I have so many other things I'd like to do to the bike first...

LOL! Nicely done...The important thing I noted was that it's NOT paintable, so you gotta live with that blue or orange color. Don't know how that would look on my RED bike, but it's damn tempting...
**REVISED**
Just used Dictionary.com's translator program, and discovered that the Kit #1 IS in fact paintable, and comes in Silver, too. Here's the total translation:
Framework celebrations GRP Rallye lining * supply inclusive paintable lining, aluminum porch, double headlight and all necessary attachments * it stand for two different tanks to selection kits the
Kit 1: 28 ltr PP tank, paintable, blue, silver or orange, inclusive paints 28. Gasoline pump, accessories and did not paint execution on inquiry request
Kit 2: 28 ltr polyethylene tank, not paintable, blue or orange through-colored, inclusive gasoline pump, accessories and seat blank
