I am the one that started the thread and I am semi in agreement with Keith. I bought and nor primarily ride my Mastiff because it is fun in tight stuff and awesome to ride around town. I have owned lots of fast bikes through the years and they always got me in trouble. I had a turbo CBR900RR that barely ran below 5,000 RPM and could throttle wheelie at an indicated 140mph way too fast for street riding.
I do admit I have been like a kid with a new toy with my GPS and one of the fun features has been top speed. On Saturday I went on a 260 mile ride though 100 miles of it was plain old boring interstate travel (50 miles each way) so that is when I am bored and play with top speed. The rest of the ride was very gnarly tight bumpy stuff. One more then one occasion I was three to four feet in the air cresting hills. We also rode maybe 30 miles fo dirt roads that were fun.
So yes top speed is not the reason to own an MZ but it is fun when you ar eon boring interstates.

In the UK, even the motorways have some bends on them, espcially at 80 plus. Been on your interstates and I agree they are so dam boring, cant see why anyone on a bike uses them.

Of course I can steer with my body weight. But once on an older Ninja 750R I had I set the throttle lock at 70 and went for 36 miles with out touching the handlebars with my hands.

Hit the rev limiter in top [108mph according to the Panoram speedo] going down the M3 the other week, for no better reason than I was chasing some mates on sports bikes...

Baghira, drilled airbox, rejeted [both carbs], open pipe....

Hi Keith, yes I'm the guilty one. I live in Waterlooville, not far from that famous MUZ emporium, Ray Dentith.

Boysie

Thought so. Don't know if you have heard, but Ray has terminated his contract with MZ and will not be selling any more bikes. I think he is carrying on with the spares side though. Its a shame as he has been an MZ dealer for a long time, but has decided to give them up as he is not selling enough bikes. Something to do with insufficient back up from MZ, advertising and the cost of the bikes I think.

Keith
