Well - I'm just guessing... but I suspect that the reason that being over-filled with oil made mine difficult to hot-start is because it creates excessive crankcase-pressure on the bottom-side of the piston. ...it might also be a case of the oil-pump being in a bind trying to push against an already-full sump... this is the first dry-sump bike I've owned since my `68 triumph (I did NOT buy it new - I am NOT that old - FYI).
ANYway - agreed about the throttle-thing... and i've even seen bikes that would refuse to start because the idle-speed was set too high believe-it-or-not ...the carb depends on vaccum to suck fuel up through the pilot-circuit from the float-bowl and with the butterflies cranked too far open by the idle-screw, it just couldn't make enough vacuum to deliver any fuel like that. |

Well, you guys were right. The bike is fine now since I replaced that fuse. As it turns out, I also now see the green neutral light which I never saw before. Who knew that Black was positive? Damn Germans! I love this bike, the more I ride it, the more I am so glad I didn't get a Kawasaki or a Honda. |
