Hi to the group... My name is Dwight, for 5 years I worked as a Parts and Service Mgr. at a MZ/Ducati dealer in Ft. Lauderdale. I have a Panther H/R and pretty much trash everything I come across because I have issues (only when I put on my helmet) and the Panther is the machine as far as I'm concerned. I have about 40K on the bike and it has never let me down. I have a +1 piston, jet kit, arrow exhaust, and a set of bars. I'm glad to offer any help, answear any questions I can. I also have a parts book on hand for the Baghira/Mastiff (did anyone really buy a Mastiff? just kiddin') but seriously. Look me up if you need a MZ part number.

Its KM actually, but whatever, this bike could care less. I was heavy into sportbikes forever, both racing and street. We (the shop) built a TIG Craft framed MZ with a special 6mm over piston (783cc ?) for the Sound of Singels and AMA lightweight superbike class. This thing was so pissed off, it was more like beating its ass more than riding it. Yes we did have some headgasket issues and over heating issues, but when it ran, look out! I axctually was tired of the sportbike riding position in my hella commute. I said f-it and I knew I was looking at the "trailie" side of the motorcycle spectrum. I knew all about Supermoto from being in Germany during my stint in the Army (4 years in Field Artillery). But no one I knew of was doing much in the states. As a dealership we pushed more of the Ducati/MotoGuzzi line up and sold a few MZ Sports and scooters mainly. I saw the Panther and fell in love. Concidering it has the largest motor in class, 5 valves, frt/rr disks, braided lines, highest top end in class, longest warranty in class, best looks, 17" wheel set for modern rubber, WP rear shock (fully adj.), most HP in class, and an employee discount to boot (thanks Ray). I absolutly kick the crap out of any bike in my path in my around the town jaunts. From stoplight to stoplight, hands down the best holeshot bike out there. I feel sorry for the folks that slap over 8 grand down for the "Funduro" from BMW, that bike is breakfast. Now my friend has the KTM, fun to ride, for 5 minutes! with no counterbalancer your so beat up at the end of the ride.... there are great for all out racing, but for everyday street riding. He wants my Panther.

Hi Demon. Have just had a 660 motor rebuilt with 102mm piston, flowed head and reprofiled cam. Well, I say just, I mean a couple of months ago-hopng to get bit in the chassis of my Sport in Feb.

May have my Baggi motor rebuilt but up to 720cc, but concerned that the starter won't have the guts to spin it over. Still considering my options, as i have to look at reliability issues to-the 720 cnversion needs the cases reworking, thus removing some of their strength. And standard, they are strong-can easily see out a season of supermono racing.

And smothness. This seems to be why a lot of my KTM riding friends seem to think my (standard) Baggi is not as powerful as theirs0when in fact it puts out more bhp at the rear wheels than theirs. Only one or two bhp more, but I don't suffer from white knuckle or blurred vision as they do.

Smooth AND loud is the way forward
