dumb question I'm sure. Fuel tank capacity is 12.5L (3.3 gallons) with 2.5L reserve? 12.5L is total capacity correct, not 15L? Sure seems that way as my first ride yesterday saw reserve at 193Km, total of 225Km, put in 3.15 gallons..yikes.
45 mpg seems kind of sad, guess being on the gas all day makes the ol' single use up the fuel.. |

the sad truth is most bikes get crappy mileage
my saxon tour is about 48 to 52mpg in us gallons(28-34hp)
my rt125 60 to 70 (14hp) with 16x52gearing.... stock is 16x49
my old 63 bmw r50 s 55to60 but wind it up and let it roar(80mph)
all day and look at 45mpg (36hp) (3.36 rearend gears) _________________ Dave 2002 MZ RT125+95 Saxon Tour in WV USA "I like the road less traveled if it's PAVED!."

I find that I usually get about 100-105 miles of commute riding before I have to switch to reserve. At that point, it will hold between 2.5 and 2.6 gallons. That comes out to 42MPG - my BMW R1100RT gets better than that, but my VFR gets about the same. Of course, both those bikes are fuel injected with complex engine management systems.
It seems that the stop and go city riding is worse than just arsing about on the twisties. Yesterday, I got about 40 miles into a tank, pulled in to top off and it only held .8 gallons (I was expecting to be at LEAST half empty the way I'd been riding) - so that comes out to 50MPG. |
