I'm finally to the "handguard" stage of my bike mods, and I've got my eye on the Acerbis Rally Pro. Looks like the mounts are going to be a tight fit on the stock handlebar (a new handlebar is farther down on the list), but I think I can make it work.

Not so with the clutch/brake levers. I assume that I'll have to modify or replace the levers. I guess cutting them will work for the short term, but I'd like to just find ones that fit, if I can. So...

1. Am I wrong when I assume that I can make the universal mounts fit w/the stock handlebar/reservoirs/mirrors?

2. Are there readily available short levers that can swap right in?

Thanks!

Did you manage to find any shorter levers?

Cutting the levers down isn't an option in the UK as I was told it would mean a 'fail' in the annual vehicle safety test (M.O.T.). They have to retain the 'blobs' on the end of the levers I believe. The theory being that if you come off, the blob will reduce the chance of the end of the lever ending up stuck in a body part.
Although quite how this would be possible with hand guards fitted I don't know!!

Actually, I just got the Rally Pro handguards and a Pro Taper SE "CR Hi" bar that I'm going to attempt to put on this week.

Much as I snooped around, I couldn't find any evidence that there was an easy, bolt-on, shorter lever. However, in doing a bit of a "trial fit" of the handguards (i.e., holding them up to the existing bars), it looks like they can be made to work by just moving the lever toward the center of the bar. Maybe this solution can be combined with adding a small spacer between the handguard and the bar end.

Of course, it's possible that I'm being too optimistic. I doubt anyone would voluntarily cut their levers if they could easily just move the lever mount inward.

In any event, I should know more this weekend. I'll report back.

Just a little update (using only crappy cell-phone-camera pics) on fitting the Rally Pro Handguards to my Baggy. I was able to get one of the handguards mounted satisfactorily using the stock brake and clutch levers (left side):

but not the other (right side):

The problem with the right side is largely due to a slightly bent brake lever from a side-stand tip-over. I'm going to take it off and try to straighten it to see exactly how well the handguards would fit with a normal lever. If I could get to around 0.5"-0.75" then I could add a spacer between the end of the grip and the handguard, and I'd be there.

In any event, this set-up works for now, although the mirror on the right is slightly annoying. If I had to live w/each mirror moved in 1/2 inch, I could.

Now to find time to finish it up...
