Hi,
Sorted my oil leak this morning. Went to a local Hydraulic firm they did'nt have any m16 banjo's off the shelf, but did have a look through some of their old stuff and found me a m16 banjo, couple of dowty washers and a couple of steel washers this end and temporary fix done.
Went to Bob Wildings this morning to make sure genuine part ordered said it would be here by Thursday. so overall good day.
Filled bike up with a cocktail of motaquip 20w 50 / 10/40 oil kept as odds from my previous car oil chages.
Any views on using car oil in Baghira ?
One of my local Bike shops swears by it and has been using it for years in singles.Wont mention his name. My car oil wont be in for too long as i'll have to drain it when i stick new plug in

Glad to hear you got if fixed.
As far as I understand it car oil is NOT great for bikes as it isnt designed for use with a wet clutch. Some of the additives can cause it to slip apparently .....I dont know from practical experience though.

DON'T Car oil no good for gearbox/ clutch, clutch prob's short term, box prob's long term. False economy.

Even after having the top and bottom of my motor apart and rebuilt with assembly lube, there was precious little gunk in the coarse oil filter.
The banjo bolt should be torqued to 22 ft lbs (29 NM), same as the main oil drain plug.
Never remove this banjo bolt unless you have new copper crush washers on hand. Inside diameter is 16mm, outside diameter is 20mm.

shell rotella T 20w-50 oil
i have been using it since about 1000 miles on my rt125 and in the saxon tour no extra slick additives to make the wet clutch slip
and my old 1974 bmw r90s with 479,000 miles lived most of its life on it
and had the oem rings when it went to its new home after 28 years

rt 125 at 16,800 and saxon tour at 22,000km and both running strong

Whilst not wanting to start an oil issue,I've had good sucess running Castrol 20w 50 or Mobil 1 15w50 in my Gpz and Mobil 1 in the Skorp.
The oils to avoid have friction modifiers and these are usually only in an
"Energy Saving" grade of 5w30, 10w 30...I've found no 40wt oil with
these modifiers.
