|
|
The Pirelli MT60 Rs corsa fitted to the rear of my bike is nearly dead. I am thinking about the options for replacement as in the UK these are surprisingly dear ( unless someone can tell me otherwise)..
I was thinking of converting to a pair of road tyres and can get a trade price deal on Dunlops ( they do the 207s in SM sizes). Does anyone have any suggestions for replacements ? Has anyone tried Dunlops?
I know if I ttrawled the site I could find lots of suggestions but I thought this might be quicker ( lazy sod that I am )
Thanks in advance.. |

Trawl E Bay. I picked up a set of Avon Pro Extreme Wets for £135 inc P&P and a set of Avon Distanza's for £115 inc P&P. Its well worth a look.

Ive tried without success. Howver, got a deal for a set of Maxxis, brand new , road legal race compounds for £135...
Just got to get to Guildford to collect them.
Are you going down to the Netley Bike Jumble the weekend of the 10th?
Im hoping to get some kit, a 'spare' rear wheel and a 14t front sprocket for the MuZ |

Just for everyones info on the Avon Pro Extreme Wets I fitted. I have just replaced the rear as it is work out. I suppose the milage ogtained was not to bad consderig teh fun I had, but I prob won't be getting another rear one. 958 miles on a tyre is a bit low when you are doing 180 + miles per week.

Thats not a lot of miles mate... Is the Distanzia next on your list for trial? I have got the Dunlop 207s on , filled with Nitrogen, and now the pressures are right they are pretty good on the road. Ive also done a deal for a set of Maxxis which I am picking up after pay day.. After them I think it will be the distanzia unless your trial says otherwise |

I fitted a Distanzia on the rear this afternoon. Havent got around to trying on the road yet though. I will keep you all informed.
Looking at the weather though I think I will be missing the rain tyre though.

Bridgestone BT 090 is a good one to try, more grip than the old MT 60's, and they look like they will last longer,,, and cheaper.. |

Thanks. Ive fited some 207s at the mo. They were ( to quote my teenager) 'well cheap'. Because i got them trade. Now they are scrubbed in they seem alright .. I have also bought a set of Maxxis Goldspeeds in Race compounds so they will be next on. Still trying to acquire a spare set of wheels so that I can chop and change ... |

The Maxis guy at the Borden meet reckons that the Silver compond version last a bit longer than the Avon Pro-extreme rain tyres, so expect a lot less miles form the race compaound rear. Maybe about 500 miles. BTW the Avon Pro-extreme rain front is hardly showing any signs of wear at over 1000 miles and works well with the Distanza rear. The distanza rear is well grippy by the way, its even quite good in the wet. I have yet to try it out off road though.

Ta
I got theMaxxis at a good price. The medium rear is a bit harder than the road version ( I am told by the Maxxis guy!!!)
I reckon those distanzias are the way to go though. From what Ive read they seem to be the ideal combination of life and grip for my uses.. Prolly be next summer before I wear this lot out though!! hopefully see you this weeekend ( im sort of on the reserve list , but I think Shaun has given me a 'get in for abit pass' cos I am working lates...) |
