Ok, brain picking time. On the back of my previous Failure to Start thread, it still doesn't start, and it's looking like it could be the CDI at fault. I'm going to test mine on another bike to be sure, but as I've been looking on Ebay today, I see loads of CDI units for other bikes.
Does anyone have an idea of which bikes have compatible CDIs and what would happen if I got one that fitted but wasn't compatible in 'electrickery' ways?
Thanks _________________ Can't think of one. |

The CDI units from the following will fit.
Yamaha SZR660
Yamaha XTZ660
Any MZ 660
yamaha TDM 850 (watch the revs though as the rev limiter is set higher)

The TDM surprises me - I always thought you needed the get the CDI unit off another bike with the same number of cylinders.
Another question I have is what year TDM? The ones after the 96 facelift have a different firing order to give a big twin noise!

Hi there!
You should watch out for a TDM 850 3VD item, not for the 4TX series.
The rev limiter is set at 8400rpm, ignition some degrees earlier (38° to 42°...not tooo sur about the numbers).
Just have a look ebay, good luck.
Regards, Mirko

Have found a great site with lots of stuff from Yammy 125's but I don't know what engine the SX has - is it a Yam of some kind?
Anyway, the site is http://www.cheshiremotorcyclesalvage.com/acatalog
