Where would you start if you where trying to lighten my baggie. I already have a m4 carbon fiber pipe..now I'm looking for liposuction on the engine. I was offroad today and the bike felt like it weighed a ton. It's still light on the street, but I want a lightweight not a welter, middle or heavyweight....please send me to weight watchers now.
PS. If you list a part let me also know where to get it.

I removed all the front "stuff" and installed acerbis cyclops headlamp, prob 3 lbs. alloy bars, and light exhaust. replaced all turn signals with much smaller ones. removed the rear "cargo" bars. the rear subframe could be re done in alloy, prob 10 lbs there. the biggest problem is the engine it self. it is REAL heavy.. Where is all this weight in the engine, What are the aftermarket parts that will make the most dramatic difference. These are the mods I want to do first. (ie) pistons, billet,
I already switched to a renthal bar.. Maybe I saved 2 lbs.
and I removed that charcoal shit.

the engine is heavy because it was designed 10 or 11 years ago for street durability. trans is beefy, buttom end is beefy.... theres really not much to do to the engine to shave weight. lighter piston will only save ounces. maybe there is a conversion to kick start from XT600, but I wouldn't want to kick that thing in the morning! all the weight to be shed is external. I could see prob 30 -35 lbs with use of alluminum. I am probably gonna convert mine to full jap bodywork and fuel tank next winter, maybe RM or DR.... you could buy another bike for dirt only and save money!

The Baggy is a great street fighter, a great gravel road burner etc etc , Its no MX'er I'm with Phlat, buy a RM or YZ etc...you have done the one mod that drops the most weight is the exhaust... the rest of the doodads would prolly not equal the weight of the exhaust... all that Phlat mentioned plus street tire would bring the baggy down to what a KTM 640 weighs... around 320-330..... I bought the MZ over the KTM cause the MZ sounds cool with the M4 can (me got a M4 as well) and is a hot lookin bike.

what's all the fuss then about the shinny alluminum that all the raptor riders put on there bikes. Does this save weight

not for weight savings. alot of the parts like clutch covers and waterpumps that are billet are for strength. I smashed the clutch cover on my RM, and the FMF one I bought is heavier than stock!
