|
|
I am looking at buying a MZ but I cannot find the answers to a couple of questions.
1. Is anyone running the Touratech Pannier boxes with an M4 exhaust. I need to make sure that the frame and boxes clear the exhaust before dropping the cash on the boxes. The M4 sitck out a bit mor than the stock exhaust.
2. I have been looking at a Baghira and a Mastiff. I am leaning towards the Baghira. The bike will mainly be used for local commuting and occasional Big Bend and Moab trips. Any thoughts on handling, rideability between the two bikes?
Thanks for the help.

simple one that.... Buy the Baghira, it has better suspension / geometry, and as such, turns better. |

I am running a m4 can with the Touratech racks. The alum boxes I made myself, but patterned them after the Touratech boxes- same dimensions. There is an interference problem with the rack tube that joins the racks together near the license plate. It fits perfect with the stock exhaust but interferes with the m4 can. It wasn't hard for me to fix, I just welded a couple of tabs on a bit lower. They are strong racks, I have done many miles fully loaded on rough roads with no problems. I also used the Tourtech adapters to attach the boxes, they work good. I also bought the inner bags, they are quality items. To buy everything, the boxes, the racks, the adapters, the inner bags, from Touratech is kinda pricy, I think around a $1000, making the boxes myself took some of the bite out of it.

Wave, I am guessing that you're looking at the bikes Perry has. I have just bought the Mastiff (not taken delivery yet) so that makes your choice easier. Keep us posted, and now with two of us new to the brand in the same general area, perhaps we can break things together. _________________ Motorcycling used to be my second favorite thing, but now that I've become an old man, it's moved up a notch. |

As I understand it, Perry has or had two different Mastiffs. Although there was a bit of confusion when I was last in there. They mentioned that they had just sold a Mastiff, but it was different from the one I was looking at. They were comparing VIN #'s with the titles on hand to make sure. Everything was on the up-and-up, without a doubt. There is a great crew in that shop!
The Baghira that I am considering has been in the area for several years. A friend of mine owned it for a while then sold it to a friend of his. And the bike is now for sale again.
I will let you know if I work everything out on the Baghira.

DEmark,
Thanks for the reply. PM me and I will give yo an email address to send the pic to directly. It sounds like the boxes will fit with a small amount of fab work. That is no problem at all. Thanks for the reply.......this is just the info that I needed to firm up my decision on the bike.
