Hi, spoke to MZ MD in germany today for well over an hr, (totally skint me now, i was on my mobile).

MZ well and truly alive, business plans are there for next 2-4 years. MZ are not going anywhere.

New 2007 brochure out in Jan.

MZ'S foreign owners will not being going away.

MZ rt 125 production to stay at Zcshopau.

MZ 1000s to stay in production, demos will be made more freely available in 2007.

MZ 1000s engine blueprint is definelty not FOR SALE.

They admit times are hard, just like most other major bike manufactures.

This years costs-saving and small layoff of staff have resolved this situation.

They admitt they need mid range cc bike, but least 3years off.

New Supamoto in pipelines but also prob 3years away.

New MZ 500-600cc mass market bike hopefully in 08.

The new models in pipleine are RT 150, RT 175 (and all the different types like 125 range now)

New Rt 250 similar to above in different guises.

They will be going back to their roots!!

MZ range selling very well in Eastern Germany esp 125 cc Range, 1000cc bikes selling but admitt probbaly not fast enough. West Germany sales still need more work but gradually getting there. (Bit like Our UK trains haha)

MZ Motorcycles of the future will be simple, rugged, economical, rugged but very modern and funky motorbikes.

MZ will be in 2007 being have New Main Importer In the UK.

MZ also admitt this will increase costs due to this, but will enhance service, dealer network.

Due to this MZ 2007 range of bikes worldwide, NO PRICE INCREASE.

HOPE THIS HELPS MZ PURCHASERS TO BE!!

AND i hope my phone call wasnt a waste of money, but MZ Md seemed quite honest and upfront.

Bye all you MZers, i know we will be around for another few years.

MZ IS HERE TO STAY, BYE FROM COLD AND WET AND WILD WALES.

good i am hungry for some thing to replace my saxon tour

what i want is some thing for basic transport about 500cc 40-45hp
good mileage and can do road work with out beating you to death
the saxon tour is a nice bike but a bit harsh ride on a 300 mile day
good parts support
and no funky modern stuff that i can not fix

the e-box(engine management) needs to be open so owner can look at fault codes for us guys hunderds of miles from a dealer
with a map for the hot shoe riders and a map for us guys that want good gas milage switch selected ...ride to the good roads flip switch burn up what gas you saved making a crooked road stright Smile

the new key systems for anti theft needs a re think as where i live they just steal ATV'S fix E-box so red master key can be pluged inside and the bike justs needs regular keys ...get some where you need extra protection
use black key to open box under seat ... remove red key and anti theft is back in use..... but red is override so if thing get fouled up you can ride it to dealer to get it reprogramed
my beef with the anti theif keysystem is picture this my bike has a key problem while i am getting my truck a theif will drive it away under its own power and it will be the only reported bike theft in my town in years Sad

I hope they get it done as i do like the bikes
but not the crappy parts supply problems of the last few years

I notice there is no mention of the 660 models. Have MZ stopped making these, or will they be available until the new MZ engined bikes become available?
All good new in general though.

Keith

I was at the Cologne show in Oct and MZ had the 125 Mantis on display.
This model is manufacterd in the Malaysian factory where they sell about 2000 a month and is now being homologated for europe.
This should also help broaden the MZ customer base.

MZ currently buy in the engines from Yamaha,
This is set to continue for next 2/3 years.

Main line will be NEW RT range, and mid range engined bike.

Best regards

I thought they used to buy the 660 motors from Yamaha, but had since changed over to just licensing the design from Yamaha and building the motors themselves. Is that not true?

(Just curious. I'm in no way an expert.)

They purchased engines from Yamaha but had cases manufactured themselves with MZ logo!

Yamaha are willing to sell their new 4 valve to anyone-derbi use it in their new Mulhasen model.

Incidentally, I rodeone of these the other week. really funky-LCD display, and you can alter the mapping whilst on the move, which is really noticeable. Felt quite pokey BUT, and this is to me a big but, it vibrated horribly in compaison to the 5 valve motor. White knuckles after a 10 mile high speed blast. And the bike had some 1500 miles on it, so should be suitably run in.

Anyone else ridden a bike with the Yam 4 valve 660 in that thinks the sanme, or was it just the bike I rode?

Spoke to Phil Albot at BSA Regal yesterday. Asked the question and he reckons all seems well at MZ, with the same comments as others have made.
