Going to work this morning, thinking `what a great day to be riding a bike' while gently accelerating through the gears. Put her into top and she jumped back out again. `Strange I though' and put it back into top. Then it happened again. Bugger I thought.
Anyway after 5 or 6 goes at this it now won’t stay in top and changes straight back into 4th.
`Bugger I though', I'll have to put the spare engine in when I get home.
Had an average day at work, and a careful, slow ride home.
Opened the garage door
`BUGGER' one of the shelves had fallen down scattering loads of manuals and other stuff over the garage floor. Lucky for me no damage done to the bikes or any parts etc.
Fixed shelf, started to take the MZ apart, got disillusioned, made a coffee and sat down here.
Will be using the 1500 Goldwing for work tomorrow, and hoping that all the cars can stay on their side of the road, not like the prat that come my side last time and hit me.
Maybe I should just stay indoors tomorrow, but if I did the house would probably fall down onto me.
I suppose the next couple of evenings will be spent putting the spare engine into the bike. I just hope it’s a good one, as I haven’t tested it yet.

Keith

worked 3 days on a push type rotory lawn mower trying to get the carb float to work right
darn thing still leaks so i cut it up with and axe and pitched it in the sons
junk trailer so no one else would waste 3 days trying to get it to run

played with it most of last summer same problem
it was a briggs and stratton engine

know wonder all the guys in my area are buying mowers with honda motors
it was about a 1998 model and always had the problem even a new carb 3 years ago $ ouch did not fix it
seem the neddle valve was a bad design

Sad Sad

next time try valve lapping compound on that float seat, sometimes saves a crap carb body if you luck out. Time to head to the dump for another eh?

the seat the little stop needle sets in is a rubber gromit
not a brass seat and was replaced several times
and lasted about 3 or 4 weeks each time

got to the point i got tired of messing with junk

50 foot of electric cord and a home made electric mower
i made several years ago will take care of what i mow with it

and save the gas for the bike
