Hi
I have searched on this forum, always use search first, just wanted to throw a post out there.
There is a 2000 ccm 604 with some head work very close to me. Asking $4000, with only 4k miles on the motor.
They are a good 100 pounds lighter than the baghira. Motor puts out the same amount of hp.
what do you guys think of ccm?
thanks ahead of time for any responses.

ccm 604 uses same motor as some atk bikes www.atkusa.com
the 1995 mz saxon tour i have uses the same basic motor in 492cc a rotax 504e
492cc and it is a stromg running bike
if the ccm is in the uk parts should not be a problem
in the usa chassis parts could be a problem
engine parts www.rotax.net in us
and like the mz bikes the brand has had its ups and downs
all 3 brands atk ccm and mz very rare in my area wv usa
i have seen 3 atk bikes 2 ccm and about 5 mz bikes in the last 6 years _________________ Dave 2002 MZ RT125+95 Saxon Tour in WV USA "I like the road less traveled if it's PAVED!."

The CCM 604 uses an obselete Austrian-made belt drive Rotax engine. This motor was superseded (I think in 2003) by a Suzuki unit which is much better.
The MZ has the incredibly tough Yamaha 5-valve engine which IMHO is the best motor of its size around. KTMs may be quicker but are fairly fragile (development of a racing unit really), the Yamaha XTX660 'supemoto' and MT-03 have the new four valve fuel injection engine that MZ cannot fit to the Baghira/Mastiff frame.
Even though the CCM is British and so am I, I would buy a Baghira again and again. In 35 years of riding bikes, it is the toughest and most fun bike I have had. And Keith Cross' bike is living proof of the toughness of the motor. _________________ 2005 Baghira |

Of course if you want a 'true supermoto', the CCM or a KTM is more like it. The MZ is not a full supermoto as, as you say, it is a bit heavy. Change the exhaust for something lighter (the original is INCREDIBLY heavy) and remove some of the ironware off the front - change to a lightweight fairing/headlight from ACERBIS etc and lose a few pounds off your body if you can (no offence meant), and the MZ will be more fun for longer. I would personally go for a KTM every time if you want a full supermoto as they as light, quick, very tuneable and easy to get parts for. _________________ 2005 Baghira |

hey guys
so i checked out this ccm. the title shows it to be a 2001. its still has the rotax motor. hasn't really been ridden in a while, but only 5k miles. it really rode great. lots of torque. i could not believe it. the mirrors have fallen off, and it needs new hand gaurds as it has been down on both sides, but the plastics are fairly clean. the exhaust did feel like they were getting hotter after about 20 minutes of riding. this thing has fliipped over during a wheelie attempt. I had a real tough time getting this thing into neutral while it was running. but i fit just right on this. seat height was very good for me, and so was the weight. also, the clutch really could not be slipped, i had to rev it up and let the clutch out pretty fast in order not to stall.
overall, he was asking 4000, but is willign to sell to me for $2750. I know there is a almost perfect baghira about 2 hours from me selling for $4000.
what should i do? should i entertain this ccm? and put money into it to make it perfect? it will ride the way it is no problem.. |

what country are you in
and if in the usa you will be hard pressed to find any one that knows how to work on the motor other than a flat track racer as motor was used mostly in race bikes _________________ Dave 2002 MZ RT125+95 Saxon Tour in WV USA "I like the road less traveled if it's PAVED!."

The Rotax engine s better that the Suzuki IF you want to do some tuning work-tyhe Suzuki lump doesn't take to it/bits are hard to come by. The Rotax engine is fine but needs more maintenance, and it cannot be scimped on. They realy do go well, as anyone who knows Big Trunks can verify, but you MUST change the exhaust, as the standard robs so much power. The Rotax was a popular motor for Supermono's.
I have jsut returned from a supermoto trip to Corsica, and my bike (in standard forn except the end can) coped well up against KTM's, Yams, a TM and XR's although the Baggi needed a bit more "oomph" from time to time-but I put that down to power to weight ratio, and the fact I'm a bit (quite a bit) of a lardarse. Pus on the hairpins i found 1st too short and second too tall.
But then, no one else there has a bike that has done over 13,000 miles with nothing more than oil and filter changes. That's why i bought my MZ-all the advantages of an SM's riding position, but with the reliabilty of a commuter.
Still, the tund motor is about to go in, fat pipes, big carbs, USD forks, etc shortly after. Roll on the changes! _________________ Becoming A Track Day Addict. Baggi Well On The Way To Completion. Well, One DAy Closer................ |

I am suprised you are using the fact you are a lardarse as a reason for being a bit slow on occasions. After all the ultimate lard arse, Stoo was there wasent he?

Stoo indeed was there-could keep with the Exon Valdez (as his bike became to be known) through the twisties, and just about on the straights, but he was pulling away out of hairpins, which I put down to the 1st/2nd combination..But I did find out that badly worn Bridgestone 014's are better in the wet than good Distanzia's-Stoo was sliding all over the place.
But I have at long last realised losing 20 kilos off of my weight is easier than losing 20 from the bike!!!! _________________ Becoming A Track Day Addict. Baggi Well On The Way To Completion. Well, One DAy Closer................ |

Hi guys,
I have some news. I found a great deal on a 2002 ktm Duke II for 4k dollars.
I have since picked up the ktm. Its never been down and its VERY VERY clean. But like the reviews read, the lc4 motor in stock form does not have that punch you expect.
what do you guys think about the ktm duke II? should i just flip around and sell the ktm and get a baghira?

of gas is bouncing up and down so see what it does then deside
dont sell it on a whem then be sorry

I am located in Northern California.
The millege is semi important to me, but I also drive as well. I really just want a safe, reliable, fun learning platform for riding |
