Hi,
been offered a set of cheap pro taper bars 1 1/8 (28mm) carmicahael bend i know i need a new set of clamps to enalbe to fit my bike but i have not taken off my bar clamps. most of the clamps i have seen seem to have a semi circle under the bar mount does anyone know if my clamps will have these on ther or do these need to be machined off when i buy new clamps such as apice 28mm ba clamps.
thanks for now

I to have `fat bars' fitted to my MZ. I used some clamps that fit on top of the originals. The semi circular bit you refer to, is I think to fill the gap that would be left where the original bars fittted into the original lower handlebar clamps.

Keith,
Yeah, i did notice today how the conversion mounts work was'nt to sure before. think I will replace the whole mount though as it looks a better job. I was considering removing the top triple clamp mount and spraying black also what do you think ? Will definitely geting some pro taper contoure bars thoufh shortly and sourcing some nice levers and maybe new master cylinder. Any thoughts on nicer looking master cylinder ?

the bar mounts bolt to the tripple clamp, i bought some fat bar risers, had to get new bolts and grind the head to fit in the riser, because the MZ tripple mount hole was the wrong size. been on there for 4 years now....
If you run the piggy back style, if you don't use the correct bar with a very low rise to compenstate, the bars may be too high for you. as stated they do make bar/adapter combos that work well _________________ 2001 MZ Black Panther
