Just got back from my first supermoto meet at Bordon in Hampshire. One of the bikes racing was a much modified Baghira supermoto producing over 70 bhp according to the rider. The engine cost £2500 to build, and the bike certainly kept up with the smaller and lighter supermotos on the track,. despite being over 30kgs heavier....Just goes to show what can be done if you try hard enough. The engine was built by Slipstream tuning of sevenoaks. tel +44 (0)1732 743248 if anyone is interested in more detail. ( I am not in anyway associated with the company but the guy I spoke to was most helpful) . I didnt have a camera with me , but another lad in teh group did, so if I can get a photo I wil post it ( although to look at the bike was a mess....)

You may or may not be able to see, but teh bike has the following chassis mods.

Alli tank
Aluminium Sub frame (slip stram tuning will make these as one offs for a price)
2 into 2 exhaust
standard front forks with thicker oil(think the guy said 20sae)
Standard rear shock
unidentified saddle.
Sump gaurd (well beaten up from off road landings)

This bike did real well considering its weight penalty.

Keith

I have seen some KTM airbox mods using these little black plastic "grommet like" inserts with black plastic screen in the drilled holes. Does anyone know where you can order those from. thanks

wow!!!!!! I have entertained the thought of converting bodywork to XR or DRZ, could be done for pretty cheap, prob save 30-40 lbs with the alloy subframe. I would race one too. Twisted Evil

The rider is Stuart Bridges and the mechanic was his dad Roy Bridges. The bike was developed over a couple of years and was using our Slipstream Tuned race engine with the same work carried out on our Supermono race engines. Stuart has since retired due to other commitments and a picture of the final bike is here http://www.teamslipstream.co.uk/slipstreamgallery.htm
Bottom left image.

The bike is now stripped down and in pieces in our storage container, i am planning on rebuilding her when i have the time. The engine had around £4000 worth of work including CR carbs and also had a custom made tank, made by Roy, the guys an amazing mechanic!

The exhaust are custom made by our exhaust specialist "Cookie", his work is outstanding and can be seen on tracks all over the world. The tank was custom made by Roy, watching him work is amazing. The forks are now on my street MUZZA Black Panther, as is the rear shock. The engine is sat on the shelf and would turn any MZ biker into a wheelie terrorist! I do have many spares, calipers, etc that i'm not using for sale if anyones interested. I also have a spare set of wheels, R6 wavey disc, two sets of WP standard forks and tons of other stuff. Whysub has first dibs at the moment but if he isn't into any of it then its up for grabs as we are starting a new project. : The seat is actually off another VERY common Supermoto brand that i don't care to mention as i couldn't bare the abuse!!!!

The sadlle wouldent be off of a KT BOOM would it Smile
BTW went on a ride out on Sunday with Gedge. He sold his MZ earlier this year and is regretting it. For some comfort he brought a Vertimatti 570. Dam thats some bike, weighs next to nothing with loads of power.
If only they could make them reliable Smile

He did say he could be tempted to buy another Baggi, if one turned up at the right price at the right time Smile
