oh, right Embarassed

anyways, i've read several articles on the 1000s already, but i havenmt been able to find the online versions to link here.

the overall opinion that they are awesome bikes, but delayed for a release in us, and probably wont sell as good here for various reasons.

"baghira 04 ?? thats weird.. "

Yep, just picked up my '04 BP couple of weeks ago, says MY2004 right on the manuf. label on the swingarm!

(I also had read that there might not be 2004 models of the Baghiras, but turns out this is incorrect)...

smash,
do you really think that yamaha would sell its BRANDNEW HIGH TECH engine to a competition manufacturer NOW Shocked Question
Maybe after thousands of sold bikes (in 15 years, like the XTZ 660??) So I don't really believe that MZ is allowed to get this engine. Maybe another one, e.g. 400 ccm. But that's all speculation and nobody really knows something about it. So we have to wait for the big surprise.

Prototype MZ GS400

goldie,
yamaha provided the engine for the previous baghie,
and maybe i am getting this wrong, but mz is actually a subsidiory of yamaha (or was it another asian maker?)

inany case yeah it is speculation, and maybe some people might actually welcome a smaller but still capable displacement for the baghiras, if that is what mz used

No subsidiary of Yamaha.....yes, another asian maker: Hong Leong Group bought MZ in 1996.

The new yammy is different looking... larger front binders, same weight.....I still like the Baggy better.... I really haven't seen anything out there up till now that competes, sure the baggy is not a track bike and to some the engine is outdated, buts its designed for a reason which is why I bought mine..... with minimal $$$ and proper mods I really don't think theres anything out there that will be better for what I use it for, I'll go find this site which gives performance specs on a few bikes in its class, it appears the baggy is still the roll on machine... theres another I found that doesn't translate very well.... looks like a job for Goldie !!
Goldie has a point, Yammy doesn't want to compete against themselves they are now stepping into SM's ... at least in Europe for now.

Sorry to Rant Wink later, Brian

Smash ,why are you surprised that there is a 2004 bag ? if you look at Nov. 10, sign guest . you see that I told you that there will be a 2004 bag.

also the 2004 have the same old engine, but for you 660 lovers. Yes, MZ is working on a new Bag with the new XTZ engine which is fuel injected.
thanks

hello jarow,
i must have overlooked that post.

my understanding that the baghies were dropped was based on multiple internet sources, irc, forum posts etc. everywhere the yams entry into the SM market was sited as the cause.

the english mz site seemed to confirm that as well, with no mention of the baghira line anywhere (which i still find strange)

so baghira is still with us, that good news
