I have recently been offered '03 MZ sm125, for around the £700

I need to know about the bike...

Is it any good (i'm new to the road legal biking)

Can it be deristricted?

I live in the UK and need to how easy or difficult it is to find parts?

And performance stats (im really struggling to find anything about the thing)

Cheers in advance for any help you could give me.

The manufacturers website is here

Parts for it can be got from BSA Regal who are the importers.Their website also has a dealer list so you may find one fairly close to you.

It's not 'restricted' as such being a 4-stroke, there is no standard higher power version, unlike the 2-strokes from Aprilia,Cagiva, etc. , but it can be tuned.

£700 seems rather cheap to me, how many kilometers has it done, has it been pranged, etc.

I've had an SM for 2 years now and am generally happy with it, though the seat's a pain on long journeys, and headwinds WILL slow you down . Max indicated speed on mine is about 80mph, the ignition box has a rev limiter at 10,500rpm.

Hope this helps

Hi!
MZ is with their 125s on the 3rd position of the statistics in Germany. You won't find a better engine in this class. 4 valves, 2 camshafts and 15 hp... this is the modernest 125s four-stroke-engine... no question! The sound is pretty good. Breaks and handling are excellent. And the bike looks so sweet, that the girls will love you! Laughing Laughing

But 700 pounds... = 1000 €??? What's wrong with this bike? It's too cheap! A '03 SM with 10000 km costs in Germany about 2000-2300 €!

Thanks for the help you lot

Beat him down to £525 Shocked

It's done 12,000 Km. but it is scratched up where he has low sided it a couple of times.

What should i be on the look out for, when i go to see the bike. (any tell tale signs of it being wreacked)
