Anyone out there have the dirt only version of the 125? How off road worthy is it, I mean compared to say Honda CRF150, TTR125,KLX/DRZ125? |

please note that ATK (atkusa.com) sold some of the fun -x
bikes as a 4cycle enduro in 02 or 03
i like my rt125 and even do some back country roads with it
but i am a slow poke in the woods
if you like to fly then a baggie is more your bike
ar dave
a fun x would work fine for me but most would find it underpowered
unless you put a 60 tooth sprocket on the rear wheel _________________ Dave 2002 MZ RT125+95 Saxon Tour in WV USA "I like the road less traveled if it's PAVED!."

I own two 125 Fun X bikes. My two Sons ride them offroad with me on my Cannondale E440. The MZ 125 is a far superior machine than competing Yamaha ttr 125, Suzuki DRZ125 or Honda CRF 150. The Suspension is a little soft but with a few mods is a good enduro/ dirt playbike. Much better brakes and overall much higher quality throughout. A couple of necessary modifications are needed - Larger rear sprocket (52T), DMC Exhaust (the stock exhaust is very restrictive), engine skid plate(aluminum) the stock plastic one is not enough and unrestricing the stock airbox. I have put a 150 kit on one of the bikes. (big difference) We ride in California on some pretty extreme trails and also the desert.(clear creek, Stonyford, Ocotillo Wells) They never have any trouble keeping up with me on my 440 or another friend on his KTM 380. The MZ's will blow away the TTR Yamaha and Honda CRF150.
Hope this helps. _________________ two MZ 125's

Thanks for the info. Does DMC make a pipe strictly for this bike because they are looking for donor bikes to develop exhausts for and when I asked about getting one for my 03MZ Black Panther they acted like they had never heard of the brand. How much did you pay for your 125's if you don't mind me asking, and where did you get them? Thanks again. |

Yes DMC does make an exhaust. I think you can order thru K&S in Redding California(MZ DEaler)
I purchased both my bike from a dealer in Florida via EBay about 18mos. Ago. He had 26 2002 125's from the factory on clearance. I can't tell you what I paid but they were a really good deal. I can ask him if he is aware of any other good deals on 125's if you want. _________________ two MZ 125's

I forgot - Powroll is making exhaust for the MZ 125's as well. Good people to do business with. _________________ two MZ 125's

Sorry for the delay. Yeah if you could try and get a price for me on the 125 fun-x I'd appreciate it! Noticed the price on the 660 Black Panther (I have an 03) is now $2k cheaper so hopefully I can get a deal on the 125! |
