Fed up with my lights being too dim, and hearing how good BSA Regal are, I dropped them and e-mail. this was the reply I received back:

The later Skorpion Sports used an Italian headlight fitted with H1/H3 bulbs, but the earlier models had the Yamaha "projector" type from the FZR400. The original light had two drawbacks - the bulbs are expensive and are not available from garages/Halfords, and the lenses are loosened by vibration and rattle. Wehave the bulbs in stock (£19.99 + VAT) Exclamation Exclamation

The later light doesn't perform any better, but at least you can buy the bulbsfor a fiver from Halfords. This type of light is also stocked (£140.02 + VAT).

There is a better solution - the headlight from the Yamaha TRX fits the aperture and is a far better light than either of the original parts. It does require a small rewiring job to replace one of the original Yamaha bulb connectors with an H4 type (supplied), but in all other respects it is a "bolt in" solution. These units are in stock at £69.18 + VAT including a new rubber boot and a connector. The TRX units are supplied as a universal "flat beam" version.

Regards

Neil Henley

So that's that sorted. I tried a few breakers via the web to find that 3 of them wanted £60 + VAT (17.5%) + Postage for a second hand TRX unit. Exclamation

My order goes to BSA Regal this morning!! Now I can mess about at my leisure converting the original headlight to the HID unit I have, without worrying about having no light on the bike-and thjis will allow me to make a better and neater job of it. I hope!
