i'm getting fed up with cleaning the spokes so has anyone done it if so what did u use and any pit fools as i'm a bit of a spanner virgin

Hi
This has been done I think and alloy wheels could be specified on teh Mastiff model. The problem you will have fitting MZ alloy wheels is that the axle sizes and bearings are different.
Baghira 35mm od, 17mm id (Spindle size), 10 thick front, 47 od, 20mm (Spindle size)id 14mm thick rear.
Alloy wheels 42od, 20mm id (Spindle size), 12mm thick front, 40 od, 17mm id (spindle size), 12mm thick rear
Looking through the bearing list I cant find an alloy wheel that has teh same size bearings as the Baghira wire wheels.
Also with other wheels diffeent spacers may have to be made.

I fit a skorpion rear wheel to my Baghira, it was difficult to do, but works good (4000 miles so far). I am working on adapting the front wheel. Spoke wheels suck, I was breaking spokes in the rear wheel, and had a high speed getoff when the front tire blew and the tire bead broke loose from the rim. Mags are safer and less hassle.
You should be able to buy all the parts you need to convert from MZ, the Mastiff used to be available with mags.....

Yes, I travel a lot, I put 21000 miles on my Baghira in the first year I had it. That picture was taken in Veracruz Mexico. I rode my Skorpion all the way to Belize in 2002.

Looking at the picture of your bike it looks like you have an oil cooler fitted low down at the front. If it is an oil cooler does it seem to make any difference.

It's a toolbox, it works pretty well. There is a better picture in the album section and a short evaluation, let your cursor float over the picture to see the text. I'm going to try to find the time to start a personal album with photos and evaluations on each modification I have made to my Baghira. I am currently fitting a set of 35x35mm flat slide Keihins up. It's proving to be much more difficult than fitting them to the Skorpion. I can't see any reason to put an oil cooler on a 660, the cooling fans rarely come on.

Iron butt in my view, for sure. That is one hell of a ride. By yourself as well?
You have my respect, thats for sure. Add up my miles in the last 5 years and i come pretty close! But thats 5 years, man!
Its also a testament to a good machine, we all should take pride in that.

Always solo, with little understanding of the Spanish language. It makes for a much different trip than traveling in a group. I've logged 7000 miles on Mexican roads on a MZ, the BEST tool for the job....

my question is the durability of dynamags on the black panther?
which bend/dent easier?mags?spoked rims?

Some of the motards in Europe come with Mag wheels as stanrd, the KTM Duke for example. They are not really recommended for off road use as the impact can damage the wheels. Wire wheels are naturally more robust for off road use, I am sure MX and Trial bikes would have mags by know if they were any better, or even as good for off road riding.
