engine oil = 1.2 L of sae 15-40 or 15-50 api sg/sh
for 4 cycle engines with wet or oiled clutches
yamaha honda kaw suz brands all ok
just dont get some thing to slick and burn up the clutch disks
ar dave
ps no slick 50 or other brands of super slick oils or additives _________________ Dave 2002 MZ RT125+95 Saxon Tour in WV USA "I like the road less traveled if it's PAVED!."

Dave, did I read that right, 1.2 liters? seems awful small amount. I drained the TR 125 and thats about how much came out however and the dipstick said OK. Is that with or without filter? Thanks, Jim |

just stay away from any oil that claims to lower fuel econmy. I just read a 15 page research paper on oil for motorcycles, and Rotella 15W-40 is the best for motorcycles. made from the highest grade oil base, and only has 3% added parafins, and the viscosity addative package is designed for heavy shear loads (like trans gears), and will not break down nearly as quickly as car spec oil. any industrial spec (api c) 15w-40 is best for our engines. Rotella is marketed world wide. also the dello delvac 15w-40 is comparable.
I will try to find a link to this article, I read it on paper at a Volvo Technical class.
very interesting, almost all marketed "synthetic" oils are only 20-25% synthetic based, mostly Dino oil. only the redline, golden spectro, and 1 other are true 100% synthetic (POE) based oils.
they did some viscosity tests on oils, and after 750miles, a motorcycle engine can destroy the visco addatives, a 15-40 turned into 15-22!!
the industrial grade oils are designed to go 50,000 to 150,000 miles in deisel trucks! they will make it the 3-5K we need with no problems. _________________ 2001 MZ Black Panther

Which one better for 125 SM? full synthetic oil? semi synthetic oil? or none synthetic oil... for a better performance and longer lifetime...

Anyone tried the Amsoil "full synthetic"? Claims "safe for all wet clutches, specialy formulated for the high temperatures and high speeds of today's motorcycle engines" or some such marketing gibberish. Most tests and reviews seem favorable. _________________ 2002 125-SM |
