I bought my bike used, so I didnt really have a choice of ride height....I'm hoping the springs cure the cornering clearance problem, I leaned the bike over in the garage till the peg touched, and it was WAY further over than I have ever been while riding it. At 1st I thought it was just the reduced height and a swap to taller forks, etc would solve it, then I saw the pics...now I'm almost sure if I can get the preload sorted I'd have plenty of clearance without going to the taller suspension. BTW, the low version of the baghira appears to have mastiff forks, which are non-cartridge and nonadjustable, while the high version has the same adjustable cartridge forks as the baghira dualsport. Valving may be diff, but I dunno...the Mastiff was intended as a street model from day 1, so the forks on it may well be up to the job...and other than springs, I've not had issues so far...

been putting off installing then cause a friend is thinking of a baghira and wants the short version, so he's gonna get the tall and we'll swap out forks. So I might get a tall one after all Very Happy

never got around to installing them, I was too busy working on my fiddy project and it was too cold to ride the bag anyway

However, I will be starting a new job at GMD computrack next week, and since I will be learning almost everything there is to know about suspension, I figure I might as well hold off and do it right. Something tells me those simple-tech forks will be tossed for something better eventually Very Happy

I don't think Ohlin's are worth it for agressive street use.....heavier oil and Eibach Progressive rate springs with fork brace and GBR Dampner is where I'm goin in the next two weeks.... although those ohlins sure are purdy !!!

spoke to galen at bikeworx, who said "if you want a stiff suspension buy a sport bike, if you want to rip up the city leave the suspension alone". That was while I was inquiring about a 720 big bore kit

thought this thread was originally about sacking the suspension due to a heavy rider. I think in a case like that it's good to stiffen the springs.

I agree with Galen tho, for most city riding (bad pavement) its nice to have the supple suspension. Just so long as your toes don't drag in the corners or you have excessive pitching or seesawing while riding.

If you get springs of right rate for combined rider and bike weight, and tune your damping, you can optimize the suspension to prevent radical nose dive on braking, and improve overall handling. You can even set your forks to assist with wheelies! altho that may not provide the best handling...
