G'day! Howdy y'all!

I thought I'd introduce myself. I go by Drew, I'm in the Bay Area (East Bay), and I like MZs.

I had a Triumph Daytona Centennial, which was a great bike, but not well suited for sport or tour. I sold it to get two bikes, a track/race bike, and a tour bike.

The track bike isn't to be a "big" track bike, but rather something I can haul up to the go-kart track (Stockton or Dixon) and ride around. I'd also want it to be streetable, so that knocks off a lot of brewed-at-home options. That left the MZ 125SM sitting in the open. I'm on a perpetual search for one, as they seem to be in short supply! I was originally considering an Aprilia RS50 or Derbi SM, but the 125 SM seems to be better suited for my application.

As for the big bike, I want something more suited for touring two-up. The MZ Skorpion is one I'm considering, but it's further down the list of bikes to get. There are other bikes out there that fit the criteria much better, but if I'm able to procure the SM and have a good history with it, well then the draw to the MZ Skorpion might be a little stronger. We'll see...

One of the big draws to me towards picking a bike is the owner support. Seeing this site with a good deal of activity is comforting, knowing that if I have a question or need info, you're all here.

Feel free to chime in on any insight you might be able to offer me. And whoever is responsible for putting up this site, a big pre-emptive thank you is in order.

hi drew
and welcome
check out this link and send it to a printer

http://www.mzriders.com/viewtopic.php?t=804&highlight=poster

if your sm has wire wheels and a 49 tooth sprocket check
out a 52 tooth SX sprocket its a easy bolt up
and you will pull hills better in SF you will need a longer chain also

Drew,

Are you considering a new or used 125SM?

I also know of a Skorpion Tour with less than 4000 miles on it (all stock except for M4 aluminum canister/system) up for sale--cheap.
