When I up shift, sometimes i go into neutral, sometimes when I downshift i goes inbetween gears, and wont go into neutral at all until I release the clutch out to grind gears to go into neutral. Sometimes when downshifting It goes into first, but when if I dont double check everytime I am at a full stop it won;t go all the wayinto first it goes into neutral.
Confused, what is the problem other than user error, very annoying.

hello

check manual for proper clutch adjustment
sounds like a bike i had in the 1960's
the lever was not pulling the cable far enough to
properly work the clutch
we adjusted the clutch and bent the lever so it could pull the cable farther
and all its problems went away
the next year i traded it for a bmw and the new owner enjoyed it for at least 10 years that i know of....

I have the same problem as you do with my 2001 BP. I can't get the bike to even start with the kickstand down because it won't get into neutral. Did you fix the problem? Thanks

You know where the shift lever passes through the frame, right where you have the most slack, and the lever moves around the most, its the part on the frame where its notched for the shift lever pivots off of, I put a washer there to get rid of the movement. I also noticed If i downshift before i stop through all the gears to 1st I don't have a problem. I do have a problem if i just ride up to a stop without downshifting. My clutch lever adjustment is good but check for to much play.
