Just spent £530 (plus the cost of the new piston) getting my 78,000 mile engine rebuilt to 686 cc (with a 102 mm piston) by a renowned builder. Because oif the mileage theengine had covered, he changed a few more bits to be on the safe side. If the engine had done less miles, he says it would have been about £200 cheaper.

Only thing is, is that I am away working for another two weeks, so cannot pick it up and try it out! Have to try and find a different, less restrictive exhaust, and maybe change the carb a bit later.

The builder is in Suffolk, so some way from'Pool
