so was your speedo (before mods) as horribly inaccurate as mine?
when the speedo indicated 90mph, the GPS said 73.3
this was my solution:
gave me an excuse to buy a GPS like I've been wanting for years

GpS costs too much $ for me... I have a sigma bicycle-speedo on the MZ and that is very accurate - based on the diameter of the tire - so I made the new speedo-face as accurate as the sigma is. The sigma is perfect except for the lack of a backlight - and I got mine at a local bicycle-shop for $9.97 -

I removed the stocker, and run the trail tech speedo. very happy. you can program maintenance reminders by mileage, it has a total time meter, trip odo, trip time, total time, average speed, max speed, and you can program it for 2 bikes!

Looks like I'm goin to Tacoma to buy drinks for one of those fine display backs.......

That is exactly what I want to do! Hope mine comes out that nice. Did the speedo come apart ok or did you wind up breaking any little parts (I always do as i am a little impatient).

I didn't break anything, but I thought I was gonna...
..the little knob-thing for the trip-meter reset doesn't pull out - even after you remove the tiny little e-clip on it (or if it does pull off, then the securing-mechanism eluded me).
Take your time, do it over top of a clean floor (so you can find parts when you drop them and they hafta run farther to hide).

You have mail.
I don't have a web-space to host this file... it's about 750KB so it's too large to upload to the message-board here... if anyone else wants a copy or wants to host it, I'm happy to email copies out.
Beware that the spacing between the hash-marks is accurate... but when you install it, YOU will need to take care to know the location of the needle-relative to the vehicle-speed... ie - it's possible to "lose zero" when you pull the needle off the spindle if you aren't careful about it and the speedo will NOT be accurate.
..also note that this will NOT change the odo and trip-meter from displaying kilos...

I am not interested in it because it wouldn't work on my Mastiff. But if you want I could host it for you.
