I would like to several things to my Skorp this winter and am looking for advise on the following:
would like to remove air box and install cone or sock type filters. does anyone know of a battery box replacement? any suggestions as to breather hose handling?
would like to replace coolant and oil lines. anyone used braided or silicone?
how about reccomendations for chain and sprokets. want to go upto 43 tooth rear and use quality chain.
how about headlamp globe replacement. mine is starting to corrode.
any help and information is appreciated

get a small K&N crankcase breather filter and find somewhere to mount it. do a search - or go straight to K&N website, they've got pictures of all the variants - one kind has a metal tube that pushes into a hose, the other kind has a rubber clamp-on thing.

me too. i suppose it's just a case of finding a vendor that can supply the right diameter and lengths of Samco silicone hose. braided steel...a bit more hassle because of the fittings - not worth it.

go here:

you're in the UK so even better. these guys are good - quick, the website shopping works well. get a Philips Vision Plus H4. the web page has it at the top - first thing you see.
if you want to read a product test, go here:
http://www.autoexpress.co.uk/product_test/product_test_story.php?id=39917
that's one of the first things i'll do to any bike (unless it has a modern sport bike type headlight.) |

OK,K&N crank case filter. That's good. Another question . The other hose ( from crankcase to the oil tank) is it just a crank vent or does it serve some other function? Can the same be done with that?
As far as the headlamp. My problem is the reflector is rusting.
And I am not in the UK I i'm in the state of Pennsylvania, good old US of A

Dave:
A quality o-ring chain is the best thing you can do for the Skorpion; I replaced my OEM twice in 20k... they suck; accelerates wear on the sprockets too!
I am parting-out my 02 Tour. If you need parts, such as the headlight or hard-to-obtain rubber chain guide that fits on top of the swingarm, I have...
the headlight is in fine shape, and the chain guide is brand new OEM (never installed). Also, my rotors, caliphers, and pads (and OEM sprokets) are only 4k old... still in great shape. Make an offer on any parts you like... I am just starting! I will accept low prices, as long as they are fair. Also, a big plus is someone whom comes to my address and dismantles parts themselves (extra discount). I live in Silver Spring, MD. Gary paltgkla1@verizon.net 301-460-7751 after 9PM. |

A Yamaha TRX850 (that’s the big twin) headlamp is a stright bolt on for the Skorpion Sport – I bought mine from BSA Regal for around £80 delivered. You should be able to get one off of ebay if you are prepared to wait for one to come up for sale. OK, it is not great, but with an uprated H4 bulb, it’s fine-good enough for 90 mph on unlit roads anyway-with a decent light spread.
Braided hoses can be made by any decent hydralic hose supplier-I have found somewhere local o me that will do them (when I have the money!).
Not much is available for the Skorpion off shelf, but then, isn’t that all part of the bikes individuality? Never seen two the same. _________________ Becoming A Track Day Addict. Baggi Well On The Way To Completion. Well, One DAy Closer................ |

I'd also like to know.

Sorry about that. You could do a search for the Philips Vision Plus and see if you can find a US supplier, or just get it shipped from the UK place - they're quick and it's a small padded envelope. But if your headlamp reflector is corroded, you need to get a new one first. |
