I have a 2001 MZ Skorpion and I don't think the previous owners ever adjusted the rear suspension. It seems stuck or something.
I got the spanner wrench and it does nothing...actually I pulled so hard on it I messed up the nerves in my hand. (Now I have no feeling in one of my finger tips).

I have also tried putting some WD-40 on it to make it turn easier and even tried using a sledge hammer and screwdirver to forcefully break it loose, but nothing.

Any suggestions?

you are adjusting the spring pre-load? does the scorpion use a double collar? if it only has one collar, it will have a second means of locking the collar, like a set screw or a pin. if not, just soak the upper jam ring in free-all or something, and use a drift and a hammer to loosen it. you could also remove the shock and take it to a specialist.

why are you changing the pre-load?

Yes the spring preload is what I'm trying to tighten due to my 200lbs and occasional two-up riding. It feels really soft. It only has a single collar with a "pin" that slips into 4 separate notches for the tension adjustment.

I am not sure what a "drift" is. Is it similar to an awl or chisel?
Thanks,
Jason

A drift is also comonlly called a pin punch if this helps.

A punch sounds like what I've been using. I'll give it a try with some Free-All and see if that helps. Worst case scenario, I'll take it to the dealer to have them do it...I hate to pay $65 to someone to do something I should be able to take care of though.

Hi, I just adjusted my suspension on my 97 Traveller, no problem, other than a couple of busted knuckles from the spanner pin slipping out of the slots on the ring. Have you had any luck?
Gary
