well, our wheel is 4.5 inches, so a 170 gets squeezed. the sides get steeper, and the bike will want to fall over. you can look at different 160 brands, and some will have more of a peak, and some will have a more flat profile.. Why the 170 anyway? this bike only makes 50 hp, if you can spin up a 160 out of corners, then something else is wrong, like tire pressure, suspension setup, riding position......

IMHO, a 160 is plenty of rear tire. I have scraped peg, never spun on exits when not wanted, and they are everywhere..

A 170 section tyre It will fit as far as I am aware, hoever I agree with the above coment, a 170 section tyre will not sit right on the rim, giving a distorted profile and may even put undue stress on the tyre.
As for the same height of tyre, the 60 in the tyre size refers to the aspect ratio. The height of teh tyre is 60% of its width, therefore the 170/60 will be 12mm larger in diameter.

my saxon tour takes a 110/80x16 rear tire
and you can not find them in the usa
close is 120/80x16
and it jacks up the back almost 10mm
the fellow befor me had a 130/90x16 on it
talk about a bad handling quick steering bike

be careful playing with tire size

Id agree with everyone here - standard sizes are the way to go.

If you are having a problem with grip, get some stickier tires - not that the standard MT60 are not sticky!!

Wider tires are just for looks and don't help you out on the corners!!

I have a MuZ Skorpion Tour 2002 I'm already change my rear tire from 150/60/17 to 170/50/17(Metzeler) I don't see any problems, but the seat is too hig to me, I can reach with the two feets but not plain (My legs height is 29-30 inches) if your 32-32 probably you don't see that problem.

160/60 rear and 120/ 65 front. Maxxis Goldspeed tires if you can stand replacing them every 3,000 miles (they kick so much ass I dont have enough room to tell you) or Bridgstone BT020 for great highmilage performance tires (O.E.M. on the Gsxr 600). Thats it. Oh, glad to hear your spinning up the rear on exits, keep it up!
