I thought the draw against Italy was brilliant. I haven't seen that many Cup games, but in this one the Amerks played as well as any I've seen. I wonder what would have happened had they retained all their players.

I'm anxious about Thursday, and will miss the game due to a day at the track--I'll be having my first club race!

Not really worried what others call it, but the game was invented by the Brittish (along with cricket and rugby, and can be traced back to the 1200's) and we call it football.
I think the Americans call it soccer to stop them getting confused with American football. Strange game, called football, but you pick up the ball and run with it. Bit like Rugby really, but with body armour to stop the players getting hurt to much Smile

Yes. There wouldn't be any confusion here, to call it football, because rugby's always called rugby. Smile But 'soccer' couldn't have come from the americans, is what I'm saying; this is the (or used to be) the "Last Outpost". Very Happy

I see that they wear a lot more padding and stuff in rugby now than they used to. Much like bike stuff. Amour in jackets and so on is normal now, but we never even thought of it, 'back in the day'. Very Happy

I hate rugby. And I was forced to go to school on Saturdays to watch it. With a blazer and a basher, in subtropical summer weather. Actually I only went a few times - it was better to get caned on Monday morning.

I was the same cat, we had a Welsh deputy headmaster, so everyone had to ply rugby. I alwasys ended up as a prop in the scrum. Hated the game, dont much like football either (the English veison Smile ), expect I look forward to th games as the roads are pretty much deserted when England are playing. Not many cops about either.
I much prefer motor sports Smile

Anyone going to Beaulieu this weekend? I will be there both days with another Supermoto club I belong to.

Keith

yeah, if it hasn't got engines involved in it, it's a game, not a sport.
