Hi,
Any of you riders out there use armoured waterproof textile jackets ?
I have just bought a Buffalo "Rocket" jacket as my previous UVEX has worn out.
I'm having major problems getting the wrist cuffs to seal in heavy rain. I have tried using gloves on the outside of the sleeves (soggy), and on the inside of the sleeves (soggy again) both times using decent waterproof gloves but the rain still gets in around the wrists. .
Any ideas, advice, stories of how useless buffalo kit is ?

the facts .... if there is an opening... there is a leak
little opening = big leak
big opening = giant leak
no leaks = its to hot to wear
i just got a new one and the problem with it is it is so heavy i am worn out
from carring it out of the house to the bike 
and have trouble standing up with it on
i slipped and fell one day and had to take it off to get back on my feet

I use a joe rocket textile jacket here in Seattle, it does not leak at the cuffs, but it leaks at the zipper vents on the sleeves. how big is the overlap of the glove? I do run hand guards on my bike, do you have any hand guards fitted?

Hi,
The gloves comes about 1/2 up the zip vent.
Good point about the zipper vents, they have a liner but that would probably act as a funnel to the end of the wrist, i suppose you could wax the zip. . ?
time for some more rain trials methinks.. . .
should have bought another german jacket, dOh !

I'm pretty happy with my First Gear textile jacket and pants. I stayed relatively dry in a 450 mile rainstorm and don't burn up in the summer heat either.
But the jacket came with a fiddly double zipper that was so stubborn it ruined the jacket for me. Finally had it replaced with a conventional zipper and all is good.
No way I'd buy another with this type setup tho.

I agree,
I bought a first gear jacket as well and it is amazing. Nice thing is the inside unzips for the summer. |
